feel good blog of the winter

Celebrating the bicycle from here to New Zealand, one revolution at a time.

On a rainy evening last autumn the idea developed to go cycling and a route from Lithuania to New Zealand was improvised. We started from zero, that’s to say we didn’t have heavy duty bikes and no serious tour cycling experience. But now we are getting ready to ride halfway around the planet. The countries we pass are

Lithuania, Latvia (March) —> Georgia, Turkey (April), Iran (May), Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgistan, China, China, China, and some more China, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia —> NZ .

We choose to travel by bike because hitchhiking in the Far East doesn’t feel right, and because we like to go places where cars can’t. Also we love slow views and the wind in our face. It’s in that spirit we rise in the morning, raise the flag, stand upright next to the bikes and give a short and loud – vive le vélo!

Hello Roberta and Ben! I have never felt more present reading a travel report as when reading yours. Beautifull photos make the (happy) homestayer a traveler himself. I wish you a very pleasant and prosperous rest of your trip.

    Yours truly, Sjoerd
