WE ARE IN Malaysia and lucky us it’s that time of year again: Ramadan! The Muslims are fasting and contrary to what we thought it means one month of, indeed, feasting. Wherever we cycle after 3 pm there’s always a street market nearby with the most colourful dishes on display.
Meters of curries, grilled fish, roasted chicken, agar-agar desserts, pastry, all waiting to be devoured as soon as the sun goes down. Luckily for us we’re not subject to this Islamic law, just like traveling Muslims, the elderly, pregnant women and children.

Hey, guys.
How are you?
where are you now in Malaysia?
Remember me, the Chinese guy who gave you a lift
to Pulau Banding.Grik.
After taking you to the camp site ,I sent the Malay guy
beck to his home at Kampung Bersia( which you camped the
previous night).
Then, I drove back to my home,(Kuala Lumpur)- at least
5 hours drive from where I left you at the camp site.
By the way, did you enjoyed the night at the camp site.
Wish I could joined you, guys. I love camping outdoor.
It was a long drive back home to KL. I slept half way at
a rest area along the highway. I was tired and sleepy.
I slept till 2.00am in the morning from 12.00 midnite.
Then I drove to KL and arrived home at 4.0am.
By the time, I washed and cleaned the fishes(I bought from
the natives at Pulau Banding) , it was 6am.
I slpet from 6.00am till 9.0am then later the day, I have
lunch with friends.
Did you enjoyed the jungle fish?
Keep in touch .
Safe cycling.

Hello Phua,
That sounds like a buzzing ride home.
The powder, we hopre you don’t mind, did miracles for the bike chains. Never have they been so shiny!
We camped 2 days at the lake and then crossed the rest of the mountain down to Bunkit Bungai, where the hotels were closed for hari raya. As luck had it Din and his wonderful family saved us.
The next day cycled to Tumpat, after which we went down the east coast. North of Kuantan we entered the E8 and raised the quota to about 110 km a day. After Bentang on the old road through the rainforest and monkey clans, along waterfalls and then KL coming out of the blue. Didn’t expect it would be a relaxed city, but it is!..
